The good thing is that he will not break the law again. Had he not died, he would soon be back to playing basketball- no harm, no foul.


I hope he at least had the decency to make his child the beneficiary of a substantial life insurance policy. My cynicism tells me, though, that she and her mother will be supported by the taxpayers.

As we say in the business: "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes."

Lots of bad things end up "just happening" to people who are places they shouldn't be, doing things the shouldn't, or hanging around with people they shouldn't.


Oh, for the days when a Hollywood star (back when there was such a thing) could say words to the effect of "it's only a tool, Mary; no better or worse than the man who uses it" in reference to a gun. I'm not a big fan of the movie "Shane" but that line has always stuck with me. Pretty sure it wouldn't make the cut if they remade the movie.


You'll never see Shane remade. Much, much to moral and American for Hollywood.
