Krag- If Putin and his staff, who have responded stating they will consider any coalition aircraft past the Euphrates a target, actually follow through with the threat and send planes up against coalition aircraft, the F-22s will get their chance to engage a non-friendly aircraft.
Looking at it another way, the US shot down a Syrian fighter in Syrian airspace. The fighter was attacking avowed enemies of the Syrian government on Syrian soil. Syria's ally, Russia, says it will help defend Syrian territory from any more acts of war by obviously hostile forces.
My vote is to at least finish the wars in Iraq and A'stan before we get involved in another war.
AF probably pissed the F-22 wasn't near the area so it could have been bloodied.
